Independent Support has been commissioned by the Council for Disabled Children to support children, young people (CYP) and their families through the Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plan process.

Support for parents can be offered in a number of ways including telephone calls, home visits, attending meetings and liaising with professionals.

The service has developed a number of workshops for both parent carers and for CYP. Further dates to be confirmed for the CYP workshops. Independent Supporters can work with CYP on a 1:1 basis or as a group setting; and use a range of aspirational games and child friendly paperwork.

Discussion held on the parental advice form and the support available from Independent Support in completing this form.

A pack of information  was distributed and discussed

About Us

We're a group of parents and those working with deaf children who want a better deal for deaf children and their families.

We feel that it is helpful to come together to share information and meet others in the same position because by coming together we are able to give support and swap ideas.

At Fylde DCS, you'll find both deaf and hearing parents with a wealth of experience of deafness. They may have experienced some of the difficulties you may be facing. We may be able to help or, if not, we can put you in touch with others who can.
